‘Save Some Sunshine’

Morning sunshine spreads its wings,

The birds on the tree begin to sing!

Stretching itself, ready for a flight

In search of some yummy bite!

 They travel through streets,

Looking for children to greet!

 They find empty, silent lanes

Wondering where are the paper planes?

The lofty buildings and fancy screens,

Has stolen the music of children’s laughter and scream!

The winds long to carry their kites,

And the earth waits to see them play a fight!

They love to touch and feel I know,

Why not touch the ground, feel the rain or snow?

After all children are an Amanah from your Creator,

Allow their tender hearts to enjoy the simple creations!

It’s the paper flights, kites and rainy days,

That will bring in sunshine to their past anyways!

Don’t hold them in the cage inside,

Let them spread their wings and fly outside!

Towards Tranquility

When the heart is tired of looking for satisfaction, for contentment, for things that would last … last forever I mean, we reach to a dark corner in our mind. Then, we wonder what is it that we yearn for, what is it that we long for, what is it that will bring in calmness to our otherwise hyper active mind and what is it that will take us towards this calmness, towards tranquility?

Tranquility then cannot be a thing or a person or a place or a space, it cannot also be time… Tranquility should surpass all measurable qualities … it should be something felt , something within, something personal and something that will … ‘Last’ with you, within you.

Sometimes it feels like it’s all too much, this waiting for a better job, for a loving partner, for a beautiful home, for a peaceful day, for some good news to come your way or simply be happy by the way! But then it slips our mind that, The One who promised us eternal sunshine and eternal happiness has also said,’ Fear not, surely I am with you [both]; I do hear and I see’(The Holy Quran,Ta-Ha 20: 46)

When the one who created you, the universe and beyond promises you that, ‘He is all hearing and all knowing’, about the fears of your day light and the dreams of your night. Then tell yourself, ‘I do not have to worry nor should I wait in vain, for reply will come, the waiting will end’.

As long as we acknowledge the fact that, God is with us and He is close to us, there remains an answer to our everlasting worries and the longing of the hearts.

Tranquility is a tender feeling created by The Almighty. It descended upon the hearts of the Prophets and the hearts of the believers. It was tranquility in Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) heart when he left his beloved wife and son in the middle of the dessert, it was tranquility in the heart of the Prophet Yousuf (AS) when his brothers left him to die, it was tranquility in the heart of the Prophet Moosa (AS) when he had to face and fight the pharaoh, it was tranquility in the heart of our beloved Prophet Mohammad (ﷺ) when he was thrown out from his own land, but continued his journey of bringing the message to our hearts.

Tranquility then, cannot be obtained from anywhere except from The One who created it. Allah says, ‘It is He who sent down tranquility into the hearts of the believers that they would increase in faith along with their [present] faith. And to Allah belongs the soldiers of the heavens and the earth’. [Quran 48:4]

So, there will be an end to all the uncertainty, the fears and tears in this world. And there will be a beginning to an everlasting  peace and happiness in the hereafter, but to reach there and beyond we will have to hold on the rope of Allah so that He may shower tranquility on us and help us cross this part of our souls journey.

Abu Hurairah and Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “When a group of people assemble for the remembrance of Allah, the angels surround them (with their wings), (Allah’s) mercy envelops them, sakeenah or tranquillity descends upon them and Allah makes a mention of them before those who are near Him.” – [Muslim]

May the journey towards tranquility take us to our Promised Home ! Ameen !
